Strengthening the cooperation in Kazakhstan

Finnish Water Forum (FWF) and Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Finland discussed issues on enhancing cooperation in water sector and energy efficiency in Kazakhstan.

On April 1, 2016 during the meeting with FWF members Mr. Serzhan Kadyrbayev, First Secretary of Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Finland participated and presented the latest updates in Kazakhstan economic development. The greatest interest was raised regarding the cooperation with Finnish companies and Kazakh counterparts in infrastructure projects in Astana.

On 27 April 2016 FWF representatives Iakov Dondych, Project Manager and Marina Poutanen, Market and Technology Expert had an opportunity to meet Mr. Murat Nurtleuov, recently appointed Ambassador of Republic of Kazakhstan in Finland and Mr. Serzan Kadyrbayev, First Secretary of the Kazakhstan Embassy in Finland.

During the meeting was discussed about priorities of Kazakhstan Government in water and energy efficiency sector; about cooperation opportunities between Kazakh and Finnish interested counterparts; about coming events in Finland and Kazakhstan in the framework of the EU CB2East project.

Mr. Murat Nurtleuov pointed out that cooperation in Kazakhstan should be focused on the biggest business centres and rural areas. Challenges of rural areas are specifically related to the quality of drinking water and local sewage systems.

“Water is an extremely important issue for development of whole region of the Central Asia. Today countries of the Central Asia are facing the substantial challenges in the cross border cooperation in water recourse management. Given this fact cooperation in transboundary water issues can be one more perspective for expanding cooperation”, noted Mr. Murat Nurtleuov.

Ambassador expressed full support to the FWF activities in Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to find ways to bring together the interested counterparts.
