Representative of BALTIC CLEANTECH ALLIANCE – Finnish Water Forum project manager Mr. Iakov Dondych held a meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on May 19, 2016 with Ms. Nurzat Abdyrasulova, Managing Director of Civic Environmental Foundation UNISON and National Project Manager of KyrSEFF (Kyrgyz Sustainable Energy Financing Facility). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss cooperation possibilities in water and energy efficiency sectors in Kyrgyz Republic
As it was mentioned by Ms. Abdyrasulova that Civic Environmental Foundation UNISON is very active in energy sector in Kyrgyzstan being a coordinator of the KyrSEFF in Kyrgyzstan, which is the part of the EBRD’s Trade Facilitation Program (TFP).
KyrSEFF is interested in cooperation with the project partners and support in co-financing of energy efficiency and wastewater treatment projects in Kyrgyz Republic. The materials about KyrSEFF activities in English are available on website: www.kyrseff.kg
In focus of the KyrSEFF are also the wastewater treatment solutions mainly for small and middle size plants, especially in pre-fabricated and ready for installation plants and related services (installation, taking over, training etc.). Potential regions for cooperation will be Lake Issyk-Kul region (tourism industry) and other rural regions of the country.
Ms. Abdyrasulova admitted that UNISON as local organisation is keen on the cooperation with the CB2East project companies and common participation in the international tenders in Kyrgyz Republic and Central Asian Region as whole. She also underlined that cooperation would be beneficial especially in wastewater treatment due to few foreign companies are active in this sector in the country. In turn, Mr. Dondych had an opportunity to introduce the Kyrgyz partner with the CB2East project, its aims, activities and actions. Discussion was held also about the UNISON to become partner in organisation of the planned matchmaking visit and seminar to Kyrgyzstan of the CB2East Finnish and Latvian partners in October 2016.
It was agreed that communication and further arrangement should be continued and final agreement reached on joint organisation of the project visit to Kyrgyzstan in October 2016.
