On 22-23 August 2016 CLEANTECH LATVIA hosted BALTIC CLEANTECH ALLIANCE Partner meeting and Project Steering Group meeting in Riga, Latvia.

During these days we had a pleasure to welcome and listen to Ambassador of Finland in Latvia Mr. Olli Kantanen, Project Manager of Competitive Economy Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020 Joint Secretariat Mr. Ülari Alamets, representatives from Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia and Finnish Chamber of Commmerce and of course several Finish and Latvian cleantech companies – Finnish Energy Club, GTK/Geologocal Survey of Finland, Pöyry Oy, VEGA 1 Ltd, Ekostandarts Tehnoloģijas Ltd, Auravia Latvia Ltd, BAO JSC, Karme Filtrs Ltd and Biotehniskais centrs JSC.

The first day started with morning session during which participants had the opportunity to introduce themselves and their business interests, get acquainted with results of market watch reports, activities carried out in Central Asia and Russia and with different projects and financing opportunities in Latvia.

During the opening session, Mr. Olli Kantanen accentuated the importance of cooperation between Latvian and Finnish companies in Cleantech sector. Representative of Ministry of Economics Mr. Gatis Silovs introduced companies to EU Structural funds support measures in period 2014-2020 in Latvia, but representatives from Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ms. Zanda Krūkle and Ms. Ilga Gruševa represented EU Structural funds objective “European Territorial Cooperation” programmes 2014-2020 and how to develop and improve the quality of services in the fields of water supply and sewerage systems. On the second part of the day participants split in two parts – BALTIC CLEANTECH ALLIANCE representatives carried out Steering group meeting and companies took part in matchmaking meeting. Among the companies’ presentations turned out to be a meaningful discussion about cooperation possibilities and companies’ experience in the targeted markets.

The day was finished with site visit to Karme Filtrs Ltd and dinner at restaurant with Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Latvia Mr. Afzal Artikov

On the second day project CB2East partner meeting and several individual B2B meetings were carried out. During B2B meetings interested Finish and Latvian companies discussed their possible cooperation opportunities.
